Vickers Viking Sounds.

Post by soggy »

Hi all,

As the VA will be introducing the viking into service,I was wondering if any of you know of a decent soundpack available.I have had a look on avsim but the only thing i can find is a stereo upgrade for a fs98 Bristol Hercules sound file that i can't find anywhere!!

Cheers,

Pete

Hi Pete

I thinks that's the one.

Have you looked what's in the Hermes pack, I think that's where I got mine from

I've just looked in my sound folder and appear to be using the default DC3 sound on the Viking (surely shome mishtake) and a C47 set by Aaron Swindle on the Varsity  The Varsity has two folders and the other contains the B25 set. Gad knows what I was doing :doho:

If memory serves (sorry if I'm wrong) the HP Hastings comes with the Herc sound pack & the stereo upgrade is for that (I think).

I can't remember which set I used but one of them (it may well have been the hercules set) had a habit of going silent on closed throttle which I found a bit of a windup. I'll have to dig around now just to make sure!

If anyone does use the old Hercules set mentioned in this thread, let us know if they work ok throughout the range

Hi Dave

It does and it's sort of sudden without a propper build and then goes sort of quieter and smoother at high RPM just when you expect the room to start shaking to bits

I am not convinced

Hi Garry,

That's the original soundset I believe. I think that's the one I'm using (without upgrade) as I have a hercsnd readme in the sound folder. Last time I flew the aircraft (testing Pompey)I don't remember anything particularly odd about the sounds. I'll get the 'upgrade' later and try and compare the two versions. I must admit I don't have cockpit sounds turned up too high as I'm usually using voice comms at the same time.

Rgds
