Out of curiosity, how has the channel tunnel effected the channel ferries an hover crafts?

What hovercrafts?

I recall that they were replaced by Seacats http://www.dover-kent.co.uk/transport/seacat.htm

Since the Channel Tunnel has opened, that has been my route of choice - quick and no sea sickness.

Great pic Ian

With all that spray it certainly gives an aura of power and speed.

Another one of those classic British sights that is no more

Agreed Garry. The one thing it fails to do is give a sense of perspective (eg.. how big these things really were!). Great phot all the same and many thks for posting

Dave,

That comment has reminded me that somewhere I have video of one of these beasts arriving at Calais and driving up the concrete dock. Perhaps even unloading the cars which would give a sense of perspective. Maybe even some colour photos.

Blimey it will be years by the time I have sorted my videos and photos - you can see that I am still on black and white ones in the 1970s - I need to retire early!

Is this Rick's SRN-4 John? Did I miss a release, or are you doing the Beta thing for him?
