I knew there was a reason I liked Jeremy Clarkson! Nice touch, his comments about the hospital, and about the YAA; bit out of date with the figures though, as they've reached £65K in donations and have upped the target to £75K!
And as for Richard Hammond, "Was I driving like a t**t", then gets up and walks to the toilet!

I appreciate in what you say regarding your reply to mine, yes, Andy Green was an experienced fighter pilot who had the star qualities of being able to break the land speed record due to his experience of flying fast, fire breathing aluminium tubes with wings, he would be focused when flying and prepared for any eventuality that may occur, his response and reactions would be instant, brought on by many years of training and experience. One reason why he was most likely short listed for selection.
On the other hand Richard Hammond is a motoring journalist with many years of 'High Performance Driving' under his belt on two and four wheels with speeds in excess of well over 100mph.
Both Andy and Richard had one thing in common, to ultimately break a speed record, both have experience of speed though in different quarters. Apart from the speeds they achieved or attempted to achieve there were similarities. These attempts were both done in a straight line, controlability, training and experience does play a major part but......something that day went horribly wrong, the vehicle went out of control, when that happens the driver, regardless of his experience, becomes just a passenger, having to sit and wait for the inevitable!!!
No doubt that the subsequent findings will be made public as soon as the investigation has been completed.
