Hi Mark

I'll have a go at that for you. Tonks can mark me out of 10 later. :worried:

TTN 41 is callsign 'Tartan 41'

TOW 142.5 = take off weight 142.5 tonnes (142,500 kg)
Throt 96 @1500E = Use 96% RPM for takeoff. Don't know about 1500E
V1 118 = Max speed for a take off abort (W possibly 'wet runway' ??)
Vr 149 = speed to rotate at
V2 161 = Safe flying speed
V2+25 186
V2+45 206
V2+60 221
Can't remember, but think these V2+ speeds are used as guides for initial climb speed, MFR & FUS. Certainly V2+25 186 would be around the initial climb out speed.

MFR 200 = Minimum speed for flaps retract
FUS 231/243 = Flaps up safety speed (safe to manoeuvre). Not sure why there's two figures.
Vat 158 = Land speed for 142.5 tonne weight (emergency landing only!)
P7 think that would relate to engine pressure ?
TA 3000 = Not sure, possibly safe height around the airport.

TA=3000 means that the Transition Altitude for the departure is at 3000ft. The Transition Altitude is the point at and below which vertical position is referred to in terms of altitude ('000s of feet). Once above the Transition Altitude, vertical reference is in terms of flight level.

3000ft is the standard TA in the UK but it can be as high as 6000ft at some airports.

As mentioned already, if you're using the VC10 model, these parameters are available on the speed reference chart/chinagraph with a click.

The FS gauges use maths to generate the numbers.
Pilots use charts like this, they don't work it out mathamatically.
There's a knot or two difference between the tankers & airliner.

East Af also list the speeds for 14.5 deg flaps.
Apparently 'high speed' tyres had to be fitted to use it & I don't think they or anyone else bothered with it.
Don't know why an extra 3 knots would need special tyres!?
