Hi Garry,

Yep, finding the routes is a pain. It's the sort of reference ".......and they flew the type to several European destinations" that really bugs me. Most of my reference is from Charles Woodley's books 'History of BEA' and Golden Age of British Civil Aviation 1945-1965'

If you have the time for the Vikings beyond the the BEA's, the more the merrier.

DaveB has passed on the BN routes you gave him but again, the more the merrier. We'll mirror the Scottish routes currently operated with the Rapides so no worries for Scottish routes. Air Anglia did Norwich-Birmingham with their Islander and I think Humber Airways operated one from Humberside to Leavesden? That's about all I know Islander/Trislander-wise.

HI John

Yep and the books that list all the places by name but forget to mention from which UK terminal.

The BN is pretty much it aart from a few odd memories....for now anyway

Isle of Scilly Skybus operated to St Marys from Newquay. There were some Newquay Jersey of Guernsey charters at times, that was an Islander.

Jersey European operated Islanders left over from Intra. They did Guernsey-Jersey but they couldn't sell tickets due to Aurigny's monoply so were staging through....don't no where from.

I think Brymon did a Plymouth Newquay-St Marys and a direct Plymouth sometimes with an Islander

Octavia Aviation wew base in Staverton.I think... with a Trislande but no idea where they went.....maybe this will jog the odd memory.

That aircrafty (G-OCTA) was sold to GibAir who used it to replace the Viscount on the GIB Tangiers run

Kondair were I think Southend based or somewhere arround there. A small fleet of Trislanders

They operated mainly fright to nearby Europe and appeared in the CI at times. Amsterdam was a destination for sure.

South East Air was also based somewhere in that corner and had Islanders before the Herald (fly by SEA livery)

Really apart from Loganair and Aurigny at the UK extremes there have only been odd half hearted operations byt Trislanders and not much more by Islanders.

I would think there are several UK airports that have never see a Trislander or at least only the odd on on chrater, tech or diversion.

Just hope some of this joggs memories and if folks only know part.that will help..........like were Intra seen at Exeter or Staverton?, the likely places for the above mentioned.

Nothing like Garry nagging to get me reaching for the bookshelf :poke:

Intra: April 1, 1974 Islander service Deauville-Gatwick, eventually daily until early 1975 due to unprofitability; May 15 , twice-weekly service linking Jersey with St Brieuc. November 1975 both Islanders sold by then (G-BAVT, G-BBZD)

Brymon: based at Plymouth- Newquay to Scilly Isles (1972); Exete to Scilly Isles (1973), Plymouth to Morlaix (1973) 4 x weekly; Plymouth to Cardiff (1974) 2 x daily; Exeter- Morlaix, Plymouth-Cherbourg, Plymouth-Alderney (1975): G-AZEI, G-AXXJ, G-BADK, G-BAVT (lsd from Intra)

Aurigny - Islander: Alderney/Guernsey/Jersey - scheduled services using 3 Islanders (1969); Alderney-Southampton, Jersey-Dinard, Jersey-St Brieuc (1970); Alderney-Cherbourg, Cherbourg-Southampton (1971)

Aurigny - Trislander: Jersey-Guernsey, Guernsey-Alderney-Southampton

That will have to do for now.

As I lived about 2 miles from the plant for 18 years I think I have a good idea. It was called short Brothers in the year dot, but from the 70's (and possibly earlier) it was simply Shorts. I have the original marketing material for the SC.7's 330's, 360's Sherpa and Tucano, and they all say Shorts.

Belfast boy born and bread mate, so i do know these things.... even did my school work experience at Sydneham
