FSX

Post by ggi »

With the approach of FSX imminent, does anyone know if Ricks models originally for FS2002 (ie.Vanguard/Viscount etc.) will still run in the new version? It would leave a huge gap in my flightsim experience without them.

You can rest assure, that Rick will see to it that his models will be running in FSX, as will other aircraft modellers....There are several other threads at this forum that ask more or less the same question....I don't see the point asking even before the final version of FS has hit the streets......?

Let things take the time needed.....

Hi ggi

Dans quite right here

And Rick has said he is on to it and knows the issues with the various types.

So it's a case of letting him get on with it, when the final version it out and he finds time to look into it.

I take it you have not taken the time to run the demo and see for yourself?

That will give you an idea.

Hi Guys

it's pointless me adjusting any models to the FSX Demo as if i know M$
things will ghange and i will have to do it all again.

I have already had over a year of People telling me none of my models will work in FSX which as i suspected was utter twaddle.

What annoys me most is even the FS2002 pre processes work in the FSX demo which means i lost lots of functions for nothing.

Anyway
once the Full Retail FSX is released i will try to fix any problems.

All of my current models are ok in the FSX demo apart from some small anomilies which for some models have already been fixed.
Glass on the JP for instance and a couple of others.

so don't panic

the main problem are panels using older Gauges.
Fraser's are mostly ok as it seems are Sav's so think we are ok.

I'm sort of sitting on the Andover C1 as i don't want to have to fix it 5 minutes after release if M$ have a goal post moving session at the last second.

Regards
Rick

Rick,

I'm not a gauge man, but I'm reliably informed that FS98 Gauges can be fixed by re-writing the header of the gauge to stop FSX seeing it as FS98.

I haven't a clue how difficult that is, but I expect you will know

Well, I don't need to worry about wether Rick's/David's etc. models work in FSX, because following the demo download, it appears I can't see out the VC!! My Nvidia FX5200 produces a black view out the window (and no it's not night time). So all I've got to do now is justify spending more money on a new PC/video card or what have you. I remember something similar with FS2004 when it first came out. At the moment the latest drivers don't fix it. I can feel my credit card getting stressed out already (just wait until my wife finds out)!!! LOL

Hi Peter

I think all mone are newer than FS98 gauges lucky for me

But i did see a piece on changing the header like you say so all is not lost for those that are too old.

On the subject of FSX and whether or Ricks, Daves' Dereks' or anyone elses' aircraft will work in FSX..........My question is.......When FSX is out and maybe six months down the road, will any new aircraft in the future be configured for 2004 or will it be just for FSX?

Footnote, I know what one answer might be forthcoming and that is "There is another life for developers away from FS you know"!!!! :curse:

Hi Nigel

Too hard to tell at this point as i have no idea how much work is invilved in self shadowing etc.

If it's a seperate model like the VC is it will be no problem as i can just compile without that model enabled.

I won't make any new models until i know what is involved.

Rick
