It was a little bit "reality tv", but being on Beeb 1 its inevitably got to be pitched at the Bank Hol. afternoon masses who know s*d all about aviation. Pity they didnt show any interviews with the guys who actually got through. That "Kermit" guy seemed to have the flying down to a fine art, esp. given he hadnt flown the Hawk since his last attempt to get in. I think he let himself down in the interview.
Still, some nice flying shots and an insight into RAF life for those of us who have no experience of the forces (like me, I know I am in minority

At least we got some shots of a VC10. I like the little inaccuracies that usually pop up in a thing like this. The Presenter, (Juliet Bradbury was it?) said, of the VC10, (which was taking the 'would-be Reds' to Cyprus): "It's the fastest Airliner in the world". - well it was once, and it's still up there with todays Airliners, but not the fastest....(is it?)

I noticed that too and let it pass
Should the RAF disregard the fatigue life of the old ladies, they could probably show a clean pair of jetpipes to most if not all current flying airliners.. maybe with the exception of one of the old Douglas aircraft (can't remember the number now).. if any are still in service

I noticed the 'slip' about the VC10 being the fastest airliner and then later thought they might be right. Of all the jet airliners flying today, which is the fastest. AFAIK, most Airbuses and Boeings actually fly around 50mph slower than 1960s jets, as fuel efficiency and not speed is the main driver in design... so its not impossible. All in all I thought it was a good program.
