Garry, you fail to post what your video card is. That is very important in this whole equation. You also don't have what your page speed is on the RAM. That has a major effect as well.

I have -

AMD Athlon 64 3700+ 2.21GHz
1.25GB of RAM (3200 DDR2)
eVGA GeForce 7800GT 256MB

I'm getting 35+ FPS in the above aircraft even with almost everything all the way right. I'm getting great performance with minimal problems on my end other than the ones I posted before.

I don't know why you're getting such bad performance, but it's not from FS. It's something in your setup.

Chris

My Video card is exactly the same as yours.

I don't know about the page speed

Make absolutely sure you have the newest NForce4 and GeForce drivers. Make sure you download the XP drivers and not the XP64 drivers though. That should help quite a bit.

One other thing for DM really.......... I have the Comet and Trident loaded but I don't see them in the aircraft menu
Finally got round to trying the Trident & Comet, no problem at all in installing them Garry.
In fact, the only one that gives any trouble is the 1-11, which you apparently have installed ok! How do you do it??!

The 1-11 wouldn't show VC textures until I copied the relevant files from the main '\texture' folder into each of the repaints.
Hope that's not a new feature. :k:

I've still not become friends with FSX.
It appears to be the weather that's causing my poor system performance. In clear skies it can now do 25-40 fps (but a tragic 10 less in VC  ), change to any theme with clouds & I'm down around 8-15.
And that's with cloud settings pretty low. I've even tried different vid drivers, settings, Hi FPS clouds, no better.

There doesn't seem to be any use of colour materials in this FSX. All model parts will have to be textured even just to put a block colour on them. Nice.
Fuel flow scalar may need reducing for FSX. Seems that it is just the scalar though, not as Earth shattering as the drag changes from FS2002-FS9.

Hi DM

Frame rates are much like mine

30-40's over water single figures over land

I just copied my whole aircraft folder from FS9 into FS.X

1-11 no probs but Quebecair was a wonder in the days of alpha transparency...looked like glass.

Dove fine and Vanguard, Viscount VC10 all come up OK

The VC 10 has hollow engines on one side only.

They all have the glass prob either no glass or solid black.

As each one comes up it give a message that they are from an unknown source but once accepted that can be confirmed for next time and the aircraft is accepted no query after the initial load.

Other than that the PA registers an error on the Vanguards due to being earlier 98 of before. TBH I have not checked the VC' out or even looked at what instrument are working or how as at the moment I ma concerned with any texture issues.

So apart form a few ofter common or well known minor issues OK

But the Comet and Trident are there (in the aircraft folder)
but not showing on the select menu :poke:

Looking in the default texture folders, there is a cfg file that can tell FS where to look for missing textures. If you add that, you only need generic textures in one folder only.

Some interesting info there.
Didn't realise you could pull in the FS9 stuff into FSX and keep it in 'Aircraft' folder. I've been transfering them all into the new '\SimObjects\airplanes' structure.
Still can't think of any reason why Trident & Comet wouldn't work.

I'll take a look at that texture cfg file. Don't suppose they've been clever enough to optionally store all the [fltsim] parameters in there as well?

Dave

Can you confirm that you see the Trident and Comet.

It is illogical as either all would show or none at all.....I would have thought :dunno:
