airliners converted for private/corprate use

Post by bigred1970 »

hey I was wondering, which of the airliners here is commonly converted for private use and what modifications are typically made, ( like adding fueltanks and such) I was wondering if any of you have thought about making corprate verions of your models, I have head that the 1-11 is turned into exeutive jets occationally, I think it would be interesting to fly one of these.....

The 146 can also be converted into the "Statesman" or now known as the Avro Business Jet. Doves were used as business transports as were DH89s although it was the DH90 that was conceived for that purpose.

One or two prominent middle East figures (e.g. Sultan of Oman) used VC10s as private transports or occasionally chartered BOAC/BA ones to fly to Europe to buy fresh strawberries or something daft.

The Chinese govt. had one or two Tridents as private transports but they werent refined in any way internally I believe.

Loads of executive Viscounts and a small number of Heralds.

748' have been quite well appointed at times including our own Royal flight.

There have also been VIP Yorks.

As to the One-Eleven....nothing occasional, there have been many exec One-Elevens some built that way.

Lets with out getting into the Boeing/Airbusthing

BBJ/ACJ

Jetstream,707,Viking,Connie,Electra,Viscount

Visounts and Electras were popular in the late 70s early 80s with bands

Lots of room and alot of cargo space -I know its not really applicable

But McCartney and Wings chartered an Invicta Vanguard and had it semi reconfigured for the "Band on the Run Tour in the mid 70s - cant remember which one it was - want to say Oscar Oscar ..but someone will set me straight

One of the more "famous" airliner-to-executive conversions is the Trump 727. There are actually quite a few 727s (mainly -100 series) that have been converted. There's DC-9s, B-1900Cs, EMB-120s, and others too.

I think that just about every airliner that has had even moderate success has seen at least one converted to business jet/executive shuttle.

Thats just what I was gonna say.

I've seen private 727's, 737's, 747's, 757's, 319's, DC8's etc etc.
