Toby probably did a better job of saying it than I did, but this is the exact point I was trying to make. Why is it that so many are so quick to give negative opinions of a product that we really don't have any idea what really is there yet?TobyV wrote:...I just cant see the point of getting into a slanging match over opinions about a product we cant even buy yet
More stuff on FSX

Because when FS2000 came out, it had some graphics issues ie st st st stuttering.Chris Trott wrote:Toby probably did a better job of saying it than I did, but this is the exact point I was trying to make. Oh well, it'll be sorted in FS2002 we all thought. Was it? No.
Then FS2004 came along and the stutters still exist. They aren't as bad as FS2000/2002 but they are still present.
So, in 6 years MS have failed to sort out the graphics problem and a whole host of other issues.
Will they be sorted in FSX? Will they f*ck !
A bird in the hand will probably sh!t on your wrist.

Funny the other day I was looking at some M$ publicity shots of the then new just released FS 2002
The shots are better than my FS9
OK maybe if I went to that area of the States in that position my FS9 will be equal or better.
The impression was given that the scenery shown is how it is.
Mine is not like that even though it's the later version.
OK so we don't know about FS.X for sure because we haven't seen it...so why be so sure everything is fine because they say so.
As CB says history proves otherwise.
There is nothing I have read that suggests a significant improvement in the stuttering problem.
The default aircraft are much improved..........but what is FS.X about them when FS.9 aircraft as that standard or better.
It does seem that even though it is an improvement there is nothing much to suggest three years worth of improvement in a market that changes rapidly over a period of months.
Even if it is a great improvement that in itself does not mean it is as good as it could have been.
I will be buying it, if I can and I hope it will be a better base than FS.9 to build on but I don't expect to buy it and it be the answer to all the problems we find as I am sure it won't be.
One thing for sure this product will not be as good as it is made out to be.......no products ever are.
The stuff they show is the best
So the rest is not as good as that shown.
That doesn't mean no good.....just not as good.
But again what about the stuttering?

I hope it will be better than fs9,but seeing as it is optimised for windows vista, with backward compatiblity to windows xp,i doubt it.
Bill gates apparently told is company to start again with windows vista,as it was so bad, according to the rumour mill. :-$
I will no doubt make a decision to buy or not, once i see it on the shelves, and can see the min machine spec, until then i live in hope, that they have made a vast improvment, over fs9.

The setup will be -
Initial Release will be for DX9 and Windows XP. A patch will be released in Janruary or February after the release of VISTA and DX10 to add in the DX10 graphics engine. As DX10 is a whole new way of doing graphics, it requires a different graphics engine, so that's what the patch will be for.
One thing I want to mention here. People are saying that you can't have a patch to replace something as big as a graphics engine. That's incorrect. You can. But you have to do it the way MS does it - offer it for FREE to registered owners via CD or DVD if they don't have a high bandwidth connection. I can get any update for Windows XP via CD for free if I can't download it because I'm on a restricted bandwidth internet connection. I ordered the comprehensive update CD when I bought Windows XP so I didn't have to spend 2 weeks downloading all the updates that had occured since the CD I bought had been burned. I got the CD a week later, 1st Class US Postage (according to the M$ website they'll ship internationally using the equivalent postage to US 1st Class), and it was (again) free, so I was quite pleased with that. How many publishers do you know that do that?

Free it may appear...buit of course it's included in the initial price.
It's only free if you've never paid for it, but to sell something promising a upgrade later is just saying what you get for your money.
If of course you can dowload it they save the postage.

If I could save up all the gas
in the forum expelled over FSX
I'd put exxon out of buisness
that is unless Chris doubles his bureto intake
(ha ha it's just a joke)
when will any of us come to grips with the
fact that Microsoft has NEVER once put something
out on the shelves to buy that was 100%
I'll wait as I always have for about a year to buy
his stuff I'm not getting paid to find out the problems
so I can report them back to him
and who has to buy the asprin Me
who has to put up with blue screens when I'm
2% away from a project Finished Me
Frankly all this is adding upto is a day when I won't be
able to log into CBFS because the disk is full
but then again I'd miss all the ribbing that goes on
