What's the Leander in those shots?? Never been down there but curious as I know Andromeda was down there prior to me joining :think:

Last trip for HMS CYILLA spelt it wrong but you get the idea. last steam tubine leander . falklands 1993. later that trip the crew went down with scarlet fever and as such went off duty. So the protection of the 200 mile exclusion zone fell on RFA Gold Rover . with fixed 20mm guns and chaff rockets. :think:
the photo was taken in stromness bay, South Georgia. resupply run for the military base. also deployment of gurkers.

Andromeda was the last warship built in Portsmouth which, even in '86 when I joined her seemed odd to think that ships were actually built there!! Watching 5 dockies carrying a 6-rung ladder, it's hard to believe that anything ever got finished!! :lol:

Leanders (Guardships in general) had a habit of going tech.. particularly if off the UK coast and particularly if it was Friday!! :lol: :wink:
