More Scottish odd bits

Hi John,

Tell you what mate.. I'm at the end of my proverbial with both Scotland and Flynet. Having fought constant 'an error has occured in flightsim.. flightsim is going to close down' this lunchtime, I've spent the best part of 2hrs trying to get the Client to acknowledge the fact I have a flight booked from Eday to Kirkwall.. my escape route!!!!
I have tried all the things we did before and nothing has worked. Eventually and reluctantly, I cancelled the flight and logged off FlyNET. I then logged on again and re-booked the flight but the Client insists that no flight is booked.. not even the new one.
Do I have to cancel the flight again and buy a ticket out of this god foresaken hole or what???

It seems I have run out of options

OK.. I've escaped. Don't ask me how cause I have absolutely no idea. However, hitting the client button in 'are we there yet' fashion must have done the trick and 58kg later.. I am in the peace and serenity of another 'bogey'.. Dyce!

It would have been rude not to have flown here (as it was here) so I did!!

As I've said to John on PM.. this is the single most frustrating day I've had and the worst part is I have no idea why the client wouldn't let me in or why I got an FS error after each flight. :think: To be honest, there is little incentive to venture up that way again without removing Scotflight and with Scotflight removed.. beautiful as that part of the world is, it becomes rather barren without the little odd's and sod's Scotflight add's in. That said.. there's little point leaving Scotflight installed if the trade-off is 'Error City' so I remain between a rock and a hard place :sad:

At least Dyce (with all the scotflight bgls removed) didn't throw me out though I've not tried to leave yet :shock: :axe:

Don't know what your problem could be there Dave. I fly to scotland regularly, (Although Orkney is a but far North for me). I have all the scotflight stuff and Iain's Freeware and I've never had a problem.

No.. I don't know either Ben and it's a wind-up of gargantuan proportions.

Glasgow has never been 'trouble free' regardless though the islands to the west (Campbeltown, Islay e t c) are fine. On the way up, I went from Glasgow to Camp.. Camp to Islay, Islay to Tiree, Tiree to Benb, Benb to Storn, Storn to Inv and Inv to Wick totally trouble free. From Wick.. I flew to Kirkwall then Kirk to Sumburgh, Sumburgh to Fair Isle.. Fair Isle back to Sumburgh, Sumb to Tingwall and it was only at Tingwall I got a spurious (and not asked for) full tank of gas out of nowhere :think: I did all the islands on the 'Northern' part of the Islands but on return to Kirkwall, I got the first 'Error in FS' msg. From Kirk to the nearest northerly islands, Westray, Papa Westray e t c.. I got an error after each flight causing me to have to close Fsim

You've seen the problems I had trying to get out of Eday and these continued back to Kirk.. from Dyce.. and finally on closing down again at Glasgow. I've just done Glas to Liverpool in ARDE (Dove) and all was well.

Now.. why are the western isles ok and the very northern isles ok but the tip of Scotland to the next northern islands not?? Dyce is Dyce and I think I'll have probs there regardless!

Glasgow also is neither here nor there. That said.. flying from any location TO Glasgow other than from Dyce appears to be fine :shock: There really is no reason why Scotflight (v2.1) should be the root of these problems but it's certainly NOT the Rapide, Dove OR 748. I suppose the only way to get around it is by a process of elimination and the easiest way to do this is to uninstall Scotflight. The only airfields I'd lose over standard are Papa Westray and North Ronaldsay (as far as Rapide routes go that is) and to be honest, I can do without either

I had no problems at Inverness or any of the airports to the west of Inverness Fraser so I wouldn't worry too much

Westray, Papa Westray, Eday, Stronsay, Sanday and North Ronaldsay then Kirkwall having visited all these before returning to it PLUS Dyce have been the problem areas. Needless to say, I'd not been to any of these strips prior to today :roll: I think Fraser can get as far as Kirkwall in the Viscount and I know there are a couple of 89's there ready to go (one of them JG just back from a thraping and sitting at 100%!!)

It's very probably something unique to this pc guy's but it's no fun as you can imagine. Not to worry. There is much up there for the Rapide pilot without having to touch the Westray cluster so please.. do not be put off by my bad luck

The ultimate test will be tomorrow when I take the Dove from Liverpool to Manchester. I've not had problems on mainland England so if I get errors tomorrow, it confirms something very nasty has happened :roll:

Hi Dave,

All the Scottish Island routes are covered by stock airports. I've got Westray and Papa Westray plus the others in the clutch. There are a few airports up there not covered - Foula is one from memory but all routes are FS9 stock.

My reference to Papa Westray and North Ronaldsay is/was for Scotflight v2.1. Both these airports are specifically for 2004 where the others in the collection are cross platform

I'd presumed (always dangerous) that all of your routes were considered using stock airports so I'll take Scotflight off this pc and head back up there after a stint back in England

[edit] As a sort of footnote to this.. I've taken Scotflight off and flown around all the 'problem' islands.. turning off the runway, parking brake on and reducing the sim as I would if flying online and not a single hiccup. It would be unfair to point the finger directly at Scotflight as so many people use it trouble-free but there's something in there that doesn't agree with the setup I have here. Shame but at least the problem looks like it's been sorted.

I was thinking about purchasing Scotflight then found this old post. Is it still causing problems or was it just Daves PC?

Hi Steve,

Adding Scotflight gives a massive boost to north of the border and is worth getting. The problems I was getting are something to do with that particular pc and a file, somewhere, giving me the headache. I don't use that particular system to fly anymore and the problem has disappeared
