Dave,
I can't blow the dust off these A/C cause I don't have em
can you or anyone else, please advise the best models available and where can I get them? you mentioned our German Freinds?.
don't want to miss the launch when it comes, and I'd like to get some circuits in prior to the off!.
Garry,
You must have had a microchip inplanted at birth.. what a list!!
The Viking is by our very own Rick Piper and should be available off his site (see the links on the homepage) and the Airspeed Ambassador is available at Allnodes. Just type Airspeed Ambassador into the Search Engine and up she'll pop
great to see your flight list, good old blackpool on the list . i'll be having a look at the viking at a later stage. well have to go, got to prep for my slow flight back to good old shores of england.
I don't want to spoil the party, but my recollection of the Ambassador is that the flight model is very odd, with a woeful lack of drag so that the a/c performance is very overstated. It was IMHO not a patch on RP's models, and in fact I deleted it after trying for a week or so
You have a valid(ish) point there Chris. I seem to remember my first takeoff was more akin to a B52 than an old airliner.. the main gear lifting off first
The visual model is the sort of quality we are after and the panel (though not my favourite) is ok so come judgement day.. perhaps I can twist one of our FD guys arms a little to see if it can't be brought a bit closer to the numbers.
This said.. I took one of the Viking's up recently and it reminded me very much of what it might be like to fly Berkshire!! I can't criticise it mind as I was one of the beta pilots
I've not flwon the Ambassador, but I have recently added the Viking to my hangar and tried it off the Portsmouth runway. Is it me, or has someone thrown an anchor out the back to slow the acceleration on the take-off run. I'm not sure I'd like to operate her out of Portsmouth
