Did someone say Thorney Island?

Post by Motormouse »

I've boshed this together this afternoon, using afcad and Cees Donkers' airfield building macro's in FSSC, still a w.i.p, need to add some more trees, aprons parking etc.etc.....thought I'd share it though

Well how about that... I did exactly the same thing a couple of months ago also using Cees's macros!   Now I've found the correct location for the Officers' Mess in West Thorney, I'll add that and some trees to finish it off.

Incidentally, Pete, if you want to know the r/w ILS and NDB frequencies, the approach lighting set up and so on, I have a set of 1973 approach plates for Thorney. If you're interested, PM me with your e-mail and I'll send you a scanned set.
Best
Pete

Hi Pete

I didn't mean it the way you think.

I don't want Steve to stop making his RAF Airfields Thorney Is.

Thats all, was not a pop at Motormouse or Cees Donker.
Regards
Rick

Goodness, don't give up on my account, Steve.

Mine's just a couple of runways and a taxiway dumped on top of the VFR scenery and filled out with some standard macros - it'll never be released and is, as they say, "for personal use only." If you can do something better, go for it and I'll be the first in the queue to download it.

I did it because Thorney Island was the first place I got airborne from as a 14 year old ATC cadet (in a Hastings) so I was quite ken to have it in FS. I've also done the old Portsmouth and Thorney makes a great diversion if the weather's bad. I've put their data lines into FSBuild and Radar Contact so I'm having great fun flying to and from them.

Incidentally, if you are doing one for release and want a copy of the approach charts I offered Pete so you can get the frequencies and nav aids right, PM me with your e-mail address.

Thanks, Pete. I have them already somewhere, filed away safely, never to be found again.

I'm busy with the four clutch airfields in Germany at the mo'.................
along with BFPO57.....................?

P.S. Don't worry Rick.............
