That's true, but the reason why the nose gear ended up like that (along with 4 others, including 2 other JetBlue aircraft) says something else. Also, the fact that Airbus programmed the nose gear to FAIL in that position and not document that failure mode is even more disturbing. Boeing's systems fail to straight ahead, as do McDonnell Douglas, Lockheed, BAe, BAC, and every other aircraft out there. If the system fails, it either fails to a "free" mode or to a "centered" position, not to a 90* off position. Especially since having them fail in-line allows the gear to be retracted at least.

they can't put thier finger on
(some thing in the "fuzzy logic" so to speak )
you know they'll cover it up untill the answer is found.
.... Also I was noticing something else about the runway
center line
It seams to be the major fuel source for the fire
it doesn't start untill the wheel is scubbing the line off the runway then dies out as it "hits the blank spots"
that Is something I would think needs to be looked into
luckly there wasn't a fuel leak from the plane
could have been worse.
or better if the line wouldn't cause a flame up in the first place

... plus it was ironic that the pilot stopped the plane at the end of the last line, .......like spot on
he could have told the PAX with pure honesty
"Ok Folks we've reached the end of the line"

1/. Boeing Engineering was directly responsible for the deaths of almost
400 japanese passengers when the aft bulkhead of a 747 was incorrectly
strap rivetted by BOEING engineers failed in flight.
2/. There have been two MAJOR accidents in the US on Boeing 737s
caused By RHO incursions which Boeing publically dismisses as
ever happening - yet within 24 hrs of the USAir crash at PIT
they had every 737 in US Airs fleet inspected.
3/. The Loss of a Silk Air 737 was attributed by BOEING as pilot error, as
in the Captain caused a mach upset at altitude killing himself and the
entire crew and passengers on purpose (Suicide). Later proven to be delamination of
horizontal tail skins due to inproper bonding at the Boeing plant
Try to act your age and not allow your prejudice to cloud your vision
Boeing, Airbus , Tupolev, it doesnt matter they are all in it for the
money - Fortunatly no one has been killed by the steering failures
that have occured and BEEN DOCUMENTED by authorities on both sides
of the Atlantic which is more than can be said about the above examples
of Boeing products.

What amaze's me is the fact he seems to turn each topic he posts into an East Vs West debate or one which in turn upsets other members by saying how much the USA is better than everyone else at everything!
We could rattle on all day about statistics & figures and how much each nation has contributed towards aviation safety and advancement of technology.
