Hi,
Can anyone remind me how you stop the side/ back views from springing back when you take your finger off the number keys in cockpit view in fs9 ?
I know I made this change in fs2002 (in the cfg file I think) but can't remember how

That also works in VC for me, or maybe that's because I have active camera?calypso wrote:Yep, and the space bar will always take you to the front (normal 2D cockpit view).cstorey wrote:To get back to another view , just press shift and the view number desiredChris

Thanks Guys,
I've not tried the shift + bit but in FS2002 you could make a change to the fs2002 config file so that the view remained fixed by simply pressing the number key. This was then reset to front by the space bar, or in my case a joystick button.
I think I got this fix from the tips on the Flightsim veterans site but that seems to have changed to a forum now.
To be honest I don't use these views much, preferring the pan-in-cockpit option but in my migration to fs9 it's one of those annoying little things I just want to fix. :-({|=
Perhaps I should just get a life instead......... :roll:

fixing views
Eureka !! :dance:
I consulted my old FS2002 cfg file and found the answer.
You go to the [KEYBOARD_MAIN] section of the fs9 cfg file and scroll down to the views part as here:
VIEW_FORWARD=38, 41
VIEW_FORWARD_RIGHT=33,41
VIEW_RIGHT=39,41
VIEW_REAR_RIGHT=34,41
VIEW_REAR=40,41
VIEW_REAR_LEFT=35,41
VIEW_LEFT=37,41
VIEW_FORWARD_LEFT=36,41
VIEW_DOWN=12,41
You then change all the "41" entries to 9, e.g.
VIEW_FORWARD=38, 9
Save the file and start fs9 and when you press the number pad keys the view stays fixed. You can reset to front with the "8" key or the spacebar or a programmed button on the joystick
You should make a copy of the cfg before changes for safety, as always
