Post by chockhead819 »

friend gave my the DSB Fighters pack, installed but i have a problem with both, they wont dive!, the only way I can get down is by banking, even then they both start to rise.
My joystick works fine & is calibrated, any ideas
Its only these I have a problem with.

Are you trimming the aircraft correctly?

Chockhead.. I think you have found why the DSB UKFighter Pack was such a success mate. You may find the next time you fly em they do a dive of death too!!!
One of the guys here (think it may have been Alex (Reheat)) had a modified FD that helped. Never did get to try it though.

I took a chainsaw to the .cfg file on the bucc and made the following changes:

[flight_tuning]

parasite_drag_scalar=0.20 //0.11
induced_drag_scalar=1.05 //1.05
elevator_effectiveness=1.0// 0.5

[airplane_geometry]
wing_area = 515.000000
wing_span = 44.00000
wing_root_chord = 11.7 //8.833333
wing_pos_apex_lon = 2.93 //0.019170

elevator_area = 80.0 //45.000000
elevator_up_limit =15.0 //9.740283
elevator_down_limit = 15.7 //5.729578

htail_incidence = 0.5 //1.999512

[weight_and_balance]

empty_weight_CG_position = -0.5, 0, 0 //0.5, 0, 0

max_number_of_stations = 3

station_load.0 =200.000000, 3.290000, -1.110000, 0.740000, Station 1
station_load.1 =200.000000, 3.270000, 1.000000, 0.730000, Station 2
station_load.2 =0000.000000, 0.000000, 0.000000, 0.000000, Payload
CG_forward_limit= 0.000
CG_aft_limit= 1.000

At least these kept it from heading heavenwards on leaving the deck.

I recall tinkering with the F4 to bring the speeds closer to reality and giving up as too much hassle, it needs careful adjustment of intake areas etc, and just learned to love Mach umpteen on the deck. Sometimes as unreal as it gets is good enough - which is more than can be said for the FD on the Balliol !!!

That looks like a throw away and start again job, but the visual model is showing signs of uninflated control surfaces, so much kudos to Ito San for giving us this elegant model.
