Airport Disaster films

Post by Jetset »

As it is the Bank Holiday Weekend, and after a mention of the genre of film in another post it got me thinking  .

Out of all of the films produced involving aircraft disaster situations, which one in your opinion is the best.

At the moment I am watching the original Airport on DVD, only £1.99 from Music Zone. This is the classic with Dean Martin and a bomb damaged B707.

Mine would either be this one, or the one where the light aircraft hits the B747.

Can't honestly think of a favourite disaster movie......Have watched many and thought at the time they were good.......but now years later when faced with the inevitable repeats I ask myself.........Did I really sit through and watch all of that??

Even a film made recounting the incident of a 767 force landing at the disused Airfield at Gimli after running out of fuel was slightly over acted as after landing with a collapsed nose wheel and all passengers and crew had evacuated the aircraft safely with smoke pouring out from the nose gear what does the captain do?.........Goes back to the cockpit.......... messes about looking for something and nearly suffocates his stupid self!!!!!! :brick: Really over the top!!

When it happened race marshalls there used fire extinguishers to reduce the risk of fire in the nose wheel well!!!
I used to be an optimist but with age I am now a grumpy old pessimist.

In my opinion, Flightplan (Jodie Foster) is a total disaster. But that's probably not what you meant

My personal opinion is, that these kind of films a not made for our kind of people.

Same thing goes for most Criminal series, most policemen I know think that those a pure sh..

Once you have a deeper insight of a subject, I don't recommend you seeing films covering it. Stick to documentaries, and either harcelate over them or learn something new ;-)
