I had my car broken ito a few years back.
I had a new window and replacement radio fitted, so in all I had what I started with.
The government, however gained about £40 from me in tax on the above items.
I was in effect taxed on having my car broken into

Sigh...............!
I'm old enough to remember the good old days when the Bobby on the beat, used to give us a clip round the earhole for playing football in the street. :tuttut:
If I went home and told my dad, I'd get another for getting caught. :crying:

At least we had some respect for the local Bobby, and he knew us all by name.

Sorry Eddie, I'm stupid - no problem.

Been reading too much Daily Mail

Trouble is, this type of newspaper article does not help to promote confidence in the police. Fortunately my experience has been good.

Hi Ian,

no problem, I've been called worse during work time!

Obviously there's mixed views about todays modern Police force much of which is based around peoples personal experience's or what they hear from other sources.

Its a very deep topic that I don't intend to go into.

No hard feelings matey!

CB,

I am very sorry to hear about what happened to you. My dad had his car vandalised and the cops took ages to come so I wouldn't hold my breath.

I wouldn't blame people from ethnic backgrounds though. My best friend is from abroad and he's far more polite and civilised than a lot of born and bred British people I have met. My guess is it must have been a druggie or a chav.

Glad you're not in the Police BT

You have decided who it probably isn't and who it must be without any evidence :huf:

I would tend to agree with BT on this one actually, going by experience, in a lot of - if not all the places I have lived its mostly white chavs that are responsible for this sort of crime. Not only that but quite often ethnic minorities can be the victims. That said in some areas there a lot of chavvy types from "ethnic" backgrounds, every country has them.

Before you make public statements you need evidence.
