Are you a believer?

Post by VEGAS »

Hi all,

I wish to ask the folks on the forum about a subject that I find pretty fascinating. The subject being Ghosts & the paranormal.

I personally class myself as an open minded sceptic who has has only one personal experience of something that I could'nt explain.

There is a programme over here in the UK called MOST HAUNTED. Which for those that have'nt seen it, involves a team of paranormal investigators with scientific equipment & video cameras, visiting various alleged haunted locations across the country.

I am an avid watcher of these shows (when not simming of course) and have not yet seen anything conclusive enough to say - "YES OK GHOSTS EXIST". There seems to be plenty of the 'orb' type phenomena and strange unexplained bangs and noises, but on the whole, I find the shows interesting but a little frustrating.

This weekend sees the team conduct another live show with interactive webcams showing fours hotspots at the location of their choosing.

It makes me think when people actually phone in saying they have see a man in a monks robe walk past or perhaps a headless horseman etc..

Is anyone else into these things? If so have you ever seen anything that has convinced you?

I once saw a program on various strange goings on on a main road near Kit's Coty in NW Kent. Male drivers who were in their cars alone had experiences such as being convinced they had just run over a young woman dressed in 1960s clothing or believed they had offered lifts to a woman hitchhiker who then 'disappeared'. Two explanations offered were that the overhead power cables or granite rocks nearby emitting radon gas were causing some sort of temporary hallucination.

Not sure I believe any of that but it was interesting never the same and those involved didnt seem quite as "OTT" and silyl as the sort of people who usually show up having claimed to have been abducted by aliens, been involved in a govt. coverup or whatever.

You mean you've never come home in the early hours with lipstick or eyeshadow on your shirt??? (My mate had a row with his girlfriend, and she was upset... ).

Being out in the middle of an ex ww2 airfield, on guard duty, at 3am is pretty scary. Even the bunnies creep up on you............

I must admit your eyes do play tricks with you at night time. Especially in woodland, where as a child, I saw something that scared the s**t out of me. I still to this day, have no idea what it was!!!..

PS and yes I have been b*ll*cked before now by Mrs V.. !! Image :dunno:

i beleve in ghosts, but not in the way that we think of them. As it stands we think of them as the walking souls of dead humans (or animals), I think that they could be thier own 'life' form.

This would also explain the supernatural beings (half horse/half humn) with the ghost not nessacarily being human shape.

Of cauuse a better theory is hallucinations. If you beleve in them enough, you will see them, becuase your mind creates them. As what you are really looking at is behind them, they appear translucent.

Either way,

hosts cant whistle.

Im not saying there is ghosts, and Im not saying there isnt, but there is something.

For example about a year ago I was crossing a road. I looked left saw nothing then I looked right. After seeing it was clear I was going to cross the road but for some reason I hesitated and the next thing I know a double decker zomed past! I would have been killed!

Other times Ive been alone in the house, on the computer with my back to the door with music playing, and I had the feeling that somebody had come home and was stood behind me. I can only describe it as "knowing" somebody had entered the room, so I turned around fully expecting to see my brother or somebody, only to find nobody there and the house empty! Really creeped me out lol!

Anyway enough of my ghost stories.

I agree there is something. Its just we have'nt been able to explain what it is - scientifically...yet. I think 99% of paranormal phenomena is pyschological but I think the spiritual medium bloke who used to be on Most Haunted, Derek Acorah is a rather nice bloke, but sometimes I think he's stark raving mad.. :nahnah:

Having a past history of working in hospitals has certainly gained me access into ghostly happenings and strange goings on. Some were really creepy and make me shudder thinking of them now!
