Shame the Shuttleworth attempt to get one back from Sri Lanka was not successful...
Nice to see another face that loves Classic British pistons.

Thank you very much - its very appreciated. Although my 'nickname' reveals my true love (boo hiss), I do have a love for British aeroplanes (honest), as my 2nd favourite of all time is the Boulton Paul Balliol. Other British types sampled are the normal Prentice and Twin Pioneer, the obligatory Rapide, Tiger Moth, Devon, Chipmunk(?), Super Ace, Austers of lots of different shapes and sizes, Terriers, Pup, Bulldog and JP.
I look forward to helping out as much as I can.
Best wishes,
Martin
Can't fault the throb and razz of the direct drive P&W Martin. At least, you must be a pretty competent "driver" if you're loosed in a Harvard from what I've heard about them.
Must say I've a bit of a soft spot for the Bally-hole too.And yes the Prov has a likeness to it.
Cosford has a very nice example of the SeaBalliol, folding wings and all.
You could keep one of those at home!!!!!!.
I'm amazed Yeovilton have let them have it for so long.It must be one of the only ones in captivity.
I(being an FAA modeller)eyed up the Matchbox 1/72nd Provost model with a view to converting it to a SeaBalliol for my own collection.

You could see him thinking "Bleedin'pilots, don't know nuffin. All glammer" He's probably right.

I must admit all my Harvard hours are from the back seat - I'm no where that good to master the aeroplane. Have about 35 hours in 10 British examples, but havent flown in one for about two years now. Soon to be rectified though!
I did one try and I mean that, to convert a Provost into a Balliol, but it was worthless. The Cosfords one is the only Balliol in the UK, although the Boulton & Paul Association are rebuilding two to static condition and there are still two in Sri Lanka as well. Pity that we wont be seeing one fly again as would have made a wonderful warbird trainer. Hopefully one might appear on the sim...one year!

thank you
The panels are taken from photos of XR240 (G-BDFH). That is what a 9's cockpit looks like. I think its rather good what he has done given the limited time that he has worked on the project.
[edit] Having just downloaded it and had a look, the model isn't half bad. Rather too much shine, VC has plenty of holes and the FD is.. er.. different but I expect Brian to sort this out (the FD that is)
Is there any chance you could send me the original panel shot Martin?? Can't promise anything with it but I feel a bit more could be done in there

I can supply the original photo as requested and on Sunday will try to take some of the other examples too. As XR241 (the yellow one) has also modelled, I'll take a few of that too.
I appreciate all that everyone is doing on this aeroplane. I thought that Mr. Ito did as most people think a good job on the build itself, its just down to the cockpit (which I'm happy with - I'm easily pleased!) and that weird flight model. Having the most hours on 9s I suppose here, and from what I gave him vide facts and figures, I like everyone else am a little disappointed. But please all remember that from start to finish, its only a period of two and a bit weeks. I take my hat off to him!
