Now I may have misunderstood the comments in this thread about shininess, but I have read about a utility that increases the shininess of a MDL file using MDLC. Never tried it but I wonder if that is what is needed.

Does this have any relevance, or have I missed the point (again!).

No, that definitely is relevant Ian, thanks for bringing it up. I'll take a look at it possibly today or this week - it could be the saving grace we are looking for with this thing!

And Vixius, yes, Duxford indeed would be good medicine  Although it might be a little expensive medicine to cross the pond for (not that Daddy hasn't considered it for himself  ) Boy do I miss the good old days of Duxford and Mildhenhall...bad traffic in the village and all!

Take a look here then:

Also on Sim-Outhouse (I recall Tom Clayton mentioning this , another ex Mike Stone forum member) but I can't download from there since I'm not a member.

It's called 'Shine', works with MDLC. It's what I've been using, working up in stages. Steve, I have been trying to get the new models to you, but I seem to be having email issues, so bear with me.

OK Andy.

I couldn't believe that you were not aware of this, but thought I should mention it just in case.

Only found it a few weeks ago, so it was good timing really.

Cheers all for the MDLC tip, I have now downloaded it and successfully applied it as Andy has already shown. It's by no means perfect (in my book), or as good as the G-MAX pre-built in shine that Bill Holker's B.2 displays, but it aint bad either - a damn sight prettier than before.

Anyway, until Paul builds it in for real, this is what we are working with and I am happy with that, so it's green light for repaint production now I think. I saw a sneak preview of an Indian AF scheme Andy has done which looks veeery nice so he may take the forefront in knocking these out. Andy, if you could reserve WT365 of 88 Sqn and '453' of the SAAF 12 Sqn, that would be much appreciated. Until then, feel free to hammer away.

Cheers,

Steve

Latest update: just did some late night work on the 453 model using the new shine plugin - not looking too bad...weathering details to come...

Well, the SAAF 12 sqn bird is complete. I took her for an airtest at Waterkloof AB and with that shine applied she was a beaut. The plan is to get a few more repaints done, then start uploading them to the module. Jens-Ole, if you're reading this, I do plan on getting the PRU blue SAAF bird done soon too, cheers for the reference. And before anyone skins me alive for diverging into foreign metal, fret not, RAF types to follow next

Still working on the IAF Canberra, as I wasn't happy with some details so needed to do a bit of research - which also revealed a few others which I may just have to do!!

88 Sqn, SAAF and the other Squadron we discussed are all yours Steve; I'm working on a 14 Sqn, 59 Sqn and a 'corrected' version of the base scheme in Paul's release - seems sensible if, when they are finished, I forward them to you to put on your repaint portal - one stop shop, kinda thing!

How's the sleep pattern?
