It was a running joke in the 1950s The Goon Show.
The reason something couldn't be done:
"You can't get the wood, you know"
Eric (Tomliner) will probably remember it.

25-05-26 Three Musketeers battled their way through this one, and I think they are united in their distaste for me over it.
All submissions identified it as US Navy, including not listed below.
All agreed that it was a De Havilland design, and appeared to be a 4B. Can't deny that. The external appearance, apart from switching the pilot's cockpit and fuel tank, was identical for practical purposes. The 4B had many sub-variants, eventuating in the 4M with its own sub variants.
All 3 knew the power plant to be Liberty.
Boeing appears to have been the main factory involved, making more variants using their own numbers.
Boeing made 30 for the US Navy, giving the designation Boeing/De Havilland O2B-1.
I apologise for picking such a hard one, but you Spotters often find those that never even passed prototype.
Final decision
Mick(woody901) and PeteP get Silver, and Brian (Bridon Bear) The Patch.

CT scan and blood test results this morning, and I haven't got anything wrong with abcdefghij,

Not really, thought I was yesterday, then had to sleep again afternoon/evening, and my lungs still hurt.

Belated results 01-06-26
Had to get up for another blood test, so I'm giving the PC a bash.
Mick (woody901), Allan (buggyman), Brian (Bridon Bear), Ben (TSR2), Leonel (Guoyzer0), Simon (simondix), and Eric (Tomliner), all apotted the Vickers Valiant.
Mick and Ben nailed it as a B(K) Mk1, with its long fuel snout.
So it's Diamonds for two, and Gold for the others.

While I'm still up....
A man phoned police to report that he'd got home to find all the doors and windows open and the entire contents stripped out.
"Do you have any idea who could be responsible?" they asked.
"No, I can't think of anyone sick enough to do that to another person's advent calendar!" he replied.
