Joe (blanston12), Leonel (Gupyzer0) and Ben (TSR2) all nailed the Republic P-43 Lancer on their first response.
Mick (woody901) danced around it, scoring silver.
Leonel identified the actual aircraft, A56-6, which was a P-43B, picking up his first Bonus Star.

All spotted the sole example of the CAC CA-15, which apparently was not copied from the Mustang, and was designed initially as a beefed up Boomerang. Engine shortages led to design changes, and when CAC realised that it was redundant, they kept working on it just to keep their hand in.

A trio of champs this week
PeteP, Mick (woody901), and Ben (TSR2) earned diamond badges for naming the Humber-Sommer, and saying that it was the first aircraft to carry airmail.
Well done.
My book tells me that it was based on the Farman III, which itself was based on the Voisin.

Thanks to all who looked.

You blokes are on the ball alright.
The Junkers F-13 was, as pointed out by some, the first all-metal airliner.
It was based on an all metal WWI fighter.
PeteP, Mick (woody901), Ben (TSR2), AllnL, Pete (Motormouse), Joe (blanston12), Leonel (Gupyzer0) and Simon (simondix) all got it first go.

PeteP, Ben and Allan picked up Bonus Stars for extra detail :)
