Belated thanks for the good wishes folks, it hasn't been a good year so far.

Day after my birthday I developed cellulitis in my right leg - seriously painful but more importantly my (RW) pilot's licence is suspended until it has fully cleared up; I'm losing LOTS of money by not being able to fly!

I'm so sorry to hear that, Adrian.
I'm going to look up that condition as I'm not familiar with it.
OK, read it.
Do you have any idea how the bacteria got a hold? The images are not pretty, and it looks like it gets really serious without antibiotics.
I wish you all the best with the treatment and recovery. Please keep us posted, and if you don't want to publicly discuss, don't forget the PM system.

Well it was definitely not pretty at its worst, but the antibiotics cleared it up, swelling is vastly reduced and leg is back to normal apart from some discolourisation.
Now I just have to persuade my AME to reinstate my pilot's licence.

Onward and upward.
