Came on Friday, the story so far is that I had to sign up for Facebook in order to run my Oculus 2 (that was what I was told). signed up for it years ago then X came along so did the same for that and deleted my Facebook Account.
I wrote my reply, being extremely polite and informed them that at no time have I ever used either Facebook or even X and that some-one had obviously highjacked my account. If I can run my Oculus 2 without either account, then please feel free to delete them both as I never use social media past, present or future, my only accounts are with Flight Simulation Forums!!
Could Trump be having a purge of foreign memberships?
Nigel.
I used to be an optimist but with age I am now a grumpy old pessimist.
I'm not sure I follow what's going on here. Why did you have to sign up with Facebook or X in order to use a VR head set ?
Probably because the VR manufacturers didn't bother to set up their own contact system so were relying on Facebook and/or Twatter to inform people of updates, bugs, etc. or to answer support questions.
It happens a lot with smaller companies apparently where they use unsocial media as a customer service access point.
Bang on Larry, I was informed that to use Oculus Quest 2 I had to have an account on Facebook otherwise it will not work.
Just had a lookup on this to see if an account is still required:
You won't be required to use Facebook to log in to Meta Quest. If you're new to Meta Quest, you'll create a Meta account as part of the setup process. If you currently use a Facebook account to access your headset, you'll need to set up a Meta account to continue using your headset.

But Meta is the parent company of Farcebook (along with InstaSpam, WhatsCrap and Mess-enger) so it's still the same game under a different name.
A quick Google search confirms that Oculus was bought out by Facebook/Meta in 2014 hence why you have to sign on to their crappy social media platform to use it. Wheels within wheels to control what you can or can't do!
I guess I won't be buying any VR stuff from them as I don't do ANY social media at all. My only online interactions are on three FS related forums (here, SOH and FS Developer)!
Do you live in Gay Street, Nigel? Have you ever bought a Gaytime ice cream on your bank card?
Reminds me of the tale of a Yorkshire chap being bothered by Farmer Giles. He went into a chemist's and asked "Does tha sell a*s* cream? and the reply was "Aye, lad - Cornetto or Gaytime?"
