NEW Computer

Post by Nigel H-J »

Been away for a couple of weeks as my old computer failed, not sure what the failure was as Babs told me to go ahead with the upgrade. I took my time going through on what every-one had written, Chris had very kindly posted a list of hardware also which was an enormous help so taking his advice on hard-ware I took the plunge going for AMD rather than a Pentium CPU as I most likely would have done had it not been for you chaps.

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8 Core Processor 4.20 Ghz

Motherboard X670E

32 GB Ram (Corsair)

RTX 4070 Ti Super

All this was slightly over budget but as it is going to be (cough) my final upgrade it had to be worth while. :hide:

Actually this upgrade still worked out to be a lot cheaper than a new system.

So many thanks for all of your contributions, greatly appreciated.

Regards
Nigel.

Paul, Ben, I am really surprised at the performance as never had a computer that is more or less up to date on hardware. Still going through adjustments for graphics and keeping away from using too much so as to maintain good FPS.

Again many thanks for helping me with your suggestions, without that, as previously written, I would likely have continued with the Pentium without a clue of which one to get!!

Regards
Nigel.

Ben, Paul. I have to admit I am really surprised at the amount of graphics I can now run though keeping them on moderate settings at the moment. This is the first time since I first bought FS9 that I have had a computer that can run decent amount of graphics and will hopefully keep me occupied for years to come.

Again I have to thank you for your contributions as to which type of CPU to go for, without, that I would be going up a blind alley due to lack of knowledge regarding performance.

I came across Rockstar Games who develop Grande Theft Auto and used to have it on one of my old computers, but graphics in those days were about average. Now having seen the following Trailer and knowing that it can run on my system, :-O This is really tempting.
