How are the Americans?

Post by Airspeed »

We've heard that big winds caused damage and death across the USA, but I've not seen any words of comfort, or reports of suffering here.
So "How are you all over there?" Hope you're OK :agree:
Let us know, please.

My sister lost everything except the clothes she stood up in. Car, apartment, furniture, the lot.

Sorry to hear that, Paul. That will be hard to come back from.
What area does your sister live in?

This doesn’t look good. Let’s hope it’s not quite as bad as predicted. Take care :agree: EricT

She was in Fletcher, North Carolina. Her daughter ( my niece ) and husband lived not far away, and their house was damaged by falling trees. They are all now staying with family in Kentucky. My younger daughter is in Michigan, well away from it all.

I'm hoping they were fully insured, Ben. It's been a nightmare for my sister, who is in a long battle with cancer. The neighbours had to smash the windows to get her out of her ground-floor apartment in the dead of night, with the water up to chest level. Her son-in-law got through to her two days later; she was sitting on the floor of the apartment upstairs, with several others.

Poor lady,
Cancer and floods, as they say, it never rains but it pours. (no joke intended)

Thanks, chaps. The last three years have been pretty awful for her, and now all this on top. At least she has her daughter with her. Maybe the rebuilding will be a fresh start and lift her spirits.
