A couple from YAM on Saturday...

Post by TSR2 »

After all of the great photos from the Yorkshire Air Museum recently, I took the little one down for a visit on Saturday. I think she was more interested in the supercars beating round the racetrack behind, but we had a great day. Does anyone know whats happening with the Javelin? I only spotted it when we were leaving. It's looking in a sorry state and well away from everything else.

It was Buccaneer day, and the old grey and white RN one is a particular favourite. The GR3 Harrier is also a favourite too. The Jag was a bit hard to get a view of.

In good news, I hear the Shack from Coventry will soon be on its way up to Yorkshire and they hope to get permission to build another hanger.

Looks like it was a mixed weather day, Ben.
Always good to see other folks' experiences.

Hi mate, the two Mirages are beside each other, but those photos are just ones i took with the phone. I was pratting about with the SD card from the little camera when I got back to the car and I’ve dropped it down under the seat and can’t find it. Proper look today though. 🙄

Great pictures Ben, I must get down to the Newark Air Museum sometime in the future, there is one item of interest to me is that they have a Link Trainer in one of the hangers.

My Father who failed a medical for aircrew due to some sort of medical issue, so later he applied to become a Link Trainer instructor with previous flying experience.

I believe he was stationed at RAF Finningley as he spoke of the time he was given a flight in a Handley Page Hampden. So there he was, in the bomb aimers position when the pilot went down and flew extremely low, revenge he believes for having been failed by my father on the and had to retake the flight again in the Link Trainer.

Regards
Nigel.
