West Freugh

Post by TSR2 »

Just dropped the girls off to get the ferry over to my parents, and thought I’d drive pas West Freugh on the way home as its usually dark when I’m heading home.
I seem to recall years ago that there was talk of it being turned into a business park, and certainly in MSFS its runways are all closed. However in real life it seems to be alive and well, operated by Qinteq for the MoD and I can see the red radar merrily spinning away. Does anyone know any more about what it’s used for these days? I’ve still got 150 miles to go, but thought I’d stop and ask the question 😁

Hi Ben,
It's a weapons test and evaluation range now. As you say, run by Qintec.
Here's a link:

Drive safely my friend.

There's a scenery for MSFS on flightsim.to to open the runways.

Thanks lads. The range side of the complex runs south of the airport, with the public road splitting the two halves of the complex. Theres actually a large control tower type building on the range side too which I hadn’t noticed previously.

Thanks DG, I’ll pick that up
