Sim Outhouse

Post by blanston12 »

Over the last few days, has anyone else had problems connecting to the sim outhours?

https://sim-outhouse.org/sohforums/

Most of the time I get either a unresponsive server or a 504 gateway timeout. Just wondering if I was the only one.

No problems here. I usually visit several times a day and not had any issues.

I also visit multiple times a day (as you might expect from a 'Staff' member) and have seen no issues nor have I seen any issues reported. Your link above took me straight in too.

We did have a few issues when we initially made the move as some DNS servers, AV companies, browsers and ISPs flagged the site as 'suspicious' due to the low number of visits/traffic which is what you would expect for a brand new site (Norton was particularly stupid about it and it took multiple requests from multiple members before they dropped us from their 'threat list'!).

I would suggest that the issue may be with your AV/firewall software, ISP or the cache on your computer. Try logging out then delete any SOH cookies (both from the old site and the new one) and log back in again to see if that clears the issue.

If you still have issues I will raise the matter with the SOH Admin team.

I think I figured it out, apparently they dropped

https://www.sim-outhouse.COM/ and are now just https://www.sim-outhouse.ORG/ and I have the old link in my bookmarks.

Not sure why they would do that.

There were/are reasons why we had to temporarily give up the .com domain name but there are plans to try to retain/regain the suffix again.

They should never give up their .com address, if you do some troll will grab it and its going to take thousands to get it back.

Trust me it's not by choice but circumstances I can't go into here are at play. Suffice to say the owner of the domain name and one of the founders of SOH died and it has caused some problems that the Admins are trying to resolve.
