Three respondents correctly identified the Blackburn B-54/ B-88, and most references on the www refer to it this way. The book which I extracted the photo from had the same heading. We all knew about the different engines, and most knew about the 6 or 8 blades on the contra-rotating props on the different engines.
The photo shows an oval depression on the fuselage side, very similar to the exhaust for the Double Mamba, but it looks like it was there because it was designed to take the unavailable Napier Double Naiad turboprop engine. The piston RR Griffon was installed instead, so I'm assuming that the original exhaust hole was just covered as development was still progressing.
It was left to our fourth and fifth entries, to categorically identify the photo as a B-54, with the additional comment that some instances on the www actually label it as a B-88.
A gold badge therefore goes to each of,
PeteP, Brian (Bridon Bear) and Keith (Dev One).

The diamond goes to
Mick (woody901) and Ben (TSR2)

The red face goes to me, who looked at many photos and failed to click.
Here are samples from the www:

Well, that was an education, and a reminder to keep eyes and mind open, AND not to believe all that you read.
Thanks to All
