What's funny (to me) is that while I never met Dave in person, I did know the other four who are remembered on this bench. I shared 'EP's flight deck with Ron Brant during an engine run (with me only looking on), hitched a lift home with Clive a few times, was shown around the flight deck by Capt Bassett and Len was a fixture on the team when I first turned up at Brooklands. Dave is in good company here.
Due to shortages and cutbacks the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off.

No problem, I had wanted to photograph that for a while now but somehow always forgot to. I should add that this bench is positioned underneath G-APEP's left wing. You can see it on this photo, to the right of no.1 engine:
