COVID again

Post by Airspeed »

I'm not sure what the powers are up to.
Masks are now optional in most situations, and overseas visitors don't need to even be vaccinated.

We've passed 10,000 deaths, and Victoria alone is losing 15 to 20 daily.
Hospitals are under pressure because so many staff are off sick.
Our Daughter and Son in law are both triple vaccinated, and both have caught new strains.
Seems that warehouse staff and truck drivers are also in short supply, leaving gaps in the shop shelves.
Many businesses can't get staff because there are insufficient residences to rent or buy. There appears to have been a rapid change in the way that multi-property owners make their accommodation available, switching from medium term rental to "air B&B" for example.
Where is the World going :dunno:

I think the bottom line is that governments and health authorities are giving up trying to stop the pandemic, and looking at ways we can live with it. That seems to be the policy in the UK at least, and no doubt it applies elsewhere too. Over the weekend, I was reading the thoughts of one scientist, and he said that they've never known a virus that's able to evolve and mutate so quickly. There is talk of a new vaccine, but are we going to have the big vaccination program as before ? I don't think there's enough money to do it again.

In the meantime - Vitamin D. I haven't had so much as a cold in the eight years since starting on it.

It seems after every large gathering there will always be an increase in Covid infections. Babs and I went to the coast today and apart from us, nobody were wearing masks, I felt like an alien as people looked at us with our mouths and nose covered but this is where the danger lurks. All is needed is for some-one to cough/sneeze without covering their mouth and hey presto, you too can become a victim!!

Just not worth it, we will continue to go out with masks on if only for peace of mind, though I am somewhat surprised at how many do not take any precautions!! :-O

Regards
Nigel.
