A rather good video on this classic aircraft with constant commentary by the pilot, David Hadfield who has a helmet mounted head cam.
He talks about the flaps and slats for take-off and landing and was surprised to learn that the pilot has no control over either of them though Dave the pilot will explain a lot about the operating procedure of the Lysander which I found extremely interesting.

MY dad's late pal that used to fly them er, operationally, into small places in the middle of the night, said it was one less thing to forget , having automatic slats and flapsNigel H-J wrote: ↑13 Feb 2021, 17:33A rather good video on this classic aircraft with constant commentary by the pilot, David Hadfield who has a helmet mounted head cam.

That is one thing that holds me in awe of the Special OPs Pilots flying the Lysander and that was to navigate to a small field and spot land it all in darkness. Not to mention the risk of the Germans trying to stop them!MY dad's late pal that used to fly them er, operationally, into small places in the middle of the night, said it was one less thing to forget , having automatic slats and flaps

Re: Westland Lysander Video
Great vid, thanks Nigel. Interesting that you must land it on its main wheels, otherwise the slats and flaps deploy again and back up you go.
