There was a similar case a couple of years ago where a woman who looked after a horse was dying of cancer. They brought her out, in her bed, into the hospital car park, drip stands oxygen bottles and all, and there was her horse waiting to see her. The horse seemed to know, and gently nuzzled her face. Then a few hours later she died.
I hope the dog in that picture will be looked after by the family - I'm sure it will.
