And another RIP, Tadeusz Sawicz

Post by Swanoir »

Believed to be the last Polish pilot to have flown in the Battle of Britain. I can't imagine what it must have been like to have been a refugee from an invaded country, who then has a chance to literally fight back at the invaders. My weapon of choice would also be a Spitfire.
As with Joy Lofthouse yesterday, these brave people's passing can't be described as a loss to the world, as their lifetimes were a gain to humanity. And I for one will never forget.

I couldn't find you in my book of Polish fighter pilots, but thanks anyway, Mr Sawicz. RIP :(
Cheers, Mike.
