If you planning on upgrading to P3D V4 when it comes out, I might suggest holding off purchasing your ORBX products, I just saw this on there forum.

Hi all,

There's been a bunch of speculation about our pricing policy for the next version of P3D, likely based on my previous posts back in December.

Let me clarify: we will NOT be charging anything for our products for the next version of P3D. They will be 100% free to use on the new platform. Better still, through the magic of FTXCv3 you won't even need to re-download them.

Please do NOT ask me or any member of the Orbx team about any tech details about any new P3D releases from LM, or why we can make this zero-cost promise. We are under NDA and we will not be pressed into talking about it for obvious reasons. If and when LM give us permission to discuss things publicly then we'll do so.

I just wanted to reassure those with a sizeable investment in Orbx products for P3D that you won't be asked a penny more to upgrade.

Having said that Joe John Venema's post implies that you might as well buy now as there'll be no penalty when P3D V4 comes out (hopefully this side of Armageddon). I'm not buying any ORBX stuff for now in any case but I have recently bought a region of France VFR and very good it is too even if it's a bit of a resource hog (photo scenery on steroids). More on that in a separate post when I've had the chance to try it with a Geforce 1060 card with 6Gb of memory (as opposed to my rather lowly - now at least - 760 with 2Gb).

Chris you're probably right about the P3dV4 comment. I would be very interested comparing france VFR to orbx regions. I recently downloaded some megascenery packages (free gifts from other purchases) and immediately hated it. When close to the ground it was so obvious it was just a flat photo. Granted from 10k ft megascenery looks pretty good, but the colour pallet between orbix and MegaScenery is pretty different.

Well, I certainly DO like Orbx scenery and I wouldn't be seen flying over anything else. However, I'll wait till they do some more USA regions, or something for Global such as a new landclass ( south east Asia would be nice ). I don't really fancy any more airports - I've got almost all the UK ones and a goodly number of the Australian ones. That's sufficient for now. :)
