RTW leg12...

Post by petermcleland »

Istanbul, Ataturk to Berlin, Templehof...All the pictures are best viewed clicked up to full size.

Image
Well I'm up and out of the murk and settled in my "Fast Cruise" with 33 inches and 2400 RPM.

Image
You can see all the murk below and...

Image
...sometimes this thicker stuff.

Image
Here we are a bit further along with the lower stuff cleared to reveal quite a covering of snow.

Image
This stuff coming at me might be snow or sleet!

Image
Here is a shot of it from outside.

Image
Well I glad to see the back of that stuff whatever it was!

Image
I've had to use a bit of carb air heat from time to time and need to watch out for carb icing and I'm using the wing anticing sometimes as well.

Image
I love this shot with a burst of sunlight coming in the port window and casting a shadow of the mixture levers and throttles on the starboard cockpit wall.

Image
Here is the "Half Fuel Used" after 732 nms distance run so we could in theory do a total distance of 1464 nms in these wind favourable conditions,

Image
Well here we are, established on the ILS for runway 09 Right at Templehof...I have been here many times as co-pilot in the Super One-Elevens in 1972 and 73 before I started my Command course on the Vanguard in August 1973

Image
Here is the last shot I took before the computer crashed with an OOM error.

Image
I took these last three shots...

Image
...the next day...

Image
...as I prepared for the next leg to Westerland, Sylt...I spent a lot of time there in the R.A.F. in the 1950s on Venoms.

Thanks for looking :)

Brilliant shots again Peter though I do rather think that you are having a lot of bad luck with your computer just lately.

Hoping that the next leg will turn out to be without problems.

Regards
Nigel.

Well I have had a lot of trouble with this new driver (378.49) and I think I am going to have to uninstall P3D properly and then re-install it again...The last time i think i got it wrong, in that I just un-installed, but did not delete the five extra folders that I should have!!

Great shots again Peter! And good to see that you've reached familiar terrain (at least for me ;) )

Well I am grounded for a bit now!...I've just fully uninstalled P3D v3 using the manual so everything that should have been removed, has been. Now I have re-installed P3D v3 and started it and activated it and loaded the default flight with the default settings that the installation chose. All looked good and now i have updated the Library and started installing the scenery back in using FTX Central 3. When I've got all that back in and FSUIPC and my trusty Dak, I'll test it on the short leg from Berlin to Sylt.

One question for the experts...I have a one terrabyte hard drive with partitions C:, D:, E: and F:...The Windows 10 is on C: and the P3D is on F:...How should I set the Pagefile or Pagefiles? Should I only have one on C: or one on each of C: and F: or one one each of the four partitions? Should I just tick the box that lets the OS control the Pagefile sizes? Or should I set a min and max size for each? And what size? Bare in mind that my system is only 32 bit and so it will only use 3 GBs of the 6 GBs in my machine...Sorry, that is five questions!!

I hope someone can help me with this...Thanks.
