Nigel,

I have calmed the F27 down with a couple of tweaks to aircraft.cfg in both versions (there are separate versions for the 100 and 200/300). So far so good but I will give them a fuller test tomorrow as a job I am doing in my prime hobby is driving me to distraction and I need a break!

The mods are as follows:

[TurbineEngineData]
fuel_flow_gain=0.025 // was 0.005 //
inlet_area=1.200
rated_N2_rpm=15000
static_thrust=400.000
afterburner_available=0

[turboprop_engine]
power_scalar=0.75 // was 1.0 //
maximum_torque=11124.000
max_rpm_mechanical_efficiency_scalar=1.000
idle_rpm_mechanical_efficiency_scalar=1.000
max_rpm_friction_scalar=1.000
idle_rpm_friction_scalar=1.000

Just two simple changes and things are improved. I will report back if I find anything else or find that my changes cause other unseen issues.

Hi Andy and many thanks, will be making a purchase on it after Christmas before the sale finishes.

Where you wrote about slowing the aircraft down takes some time would altering the induced_drag_scalar in flight tunning help any? Just a thought.

Will certainly use your changes when I get it.

Again, many thanks.

Nigel.

Hi Nigel,

I spent a couple of hours this morning in various phases of flight with the F27. It really does hand fly well. Since I changed the cfg file things are much better and I will tinker around with the induced_drag_scalar to see if it helps slowing the aircraft down. TBH I suspect that the problem might also be down to me making approaches too late :$

I had a lot of frustration when I decided to set the autopilot in the cruise. I was flying under an FSX flightplan and veered slightly too far to the left of course which triggered ATC to complain. Try as I might I could not get the aircraft to change heading and in fighting the autopilot I managed to go completely off course - moral to this story - RTFM! Once I had read how to use the autopilot it was very easy, no surprise.

I had intended to make several flights today but living where I do and due to the severe gales hitting today there have been no fewer than ten 5 second power cuts plus a much longer one. Seems to be fixed now but who knows? Anyway I will try again tomorrow but I suspect the verdict will be the same: it's not perfect and it doesn't compare favourably with freeware like we are used to here but it will be a keeper for me.

Hi Andy and many thanks for the update on the Fokker. I will be buying it tomorrow and hope to get a few flights in as going away fro Christmas then start in earnest with it next week after Christmas, looking forward to it as I have now more or less finished with the larger planes and find that flying props much more enjoyable whilst being able to view the scenery at lower altitudes.

Basically I tend to now fly short hops of between 30mins to an hour which keeps me nicely occupied, the days of spending 2 hours plus at over 20,000ft just watching the clouds pass by became a bit boring.

Oh dear, I am not the type that can sit down and read a manual but reading the above think I am going to have to make an exception. :lol:

Many thanks again.

Hi Nigel.

You just need to familiarise yourself with pages 29 & 30 of the manual. Most other things are obvious. One thing I forgot to mention is that the sound package is not very good in that it doesn't sound much like I remember RR Dart equipped aircraft. I might play around with the FS9 version which has, I think, a sound package by Fraser which is very good. It might be possible to merge the best bits of both.

Have fun!

Hi Andy, well I got it but boy...did I have trouble with the verification with Just Flight, before purchase I changed my password for a stronger one, then when it came to verify for the install the new password was not recognised so signed in from their website and found it went in, tried again for verifying but no, so changed the password again then the same happened :wall: so changed it again and it was third time lucky!

Installed the Fokker and did a quick flight from East Midlands with 2 touch and go's, lovely aircraft to fly though I think I will raise the eye viewpoint slightly as the control column blocks quite a bit of the Omni Bearing instrument but apart from that and even though it was only a short flight it was a delightful aircraft.

Changed the settings that you posted to the aircraft.cfg Brilliant! Many thanks, much better now.

Looking forward to flying her more often after Christmas though will have to read the :rtfm: :worried: :lol: :lol:

Have a good Christmas all.

Regards
Nigel.
