Will ORBIX vector fix that or will I need something else to correct elevations
One of the tools that Vector comes with is an airport elevation correction tool, which seems to work most of the time. However, on a recent visit to Davis Monthan, there was a trough at one end - after running the AEC tool, there was a mound at the other. Seriously though, it does work in 9/10 cases, and you can disable the elevation correction for each airport as required.
I always dream of owning ORBX PAJN Juneau and PAKT Ketchian airport sceneries that require two ORBX base packages but I am afraid of buying those and installing those that would screw up my FSX and my new laptop.
Installing just the regional and airport packages is pretty safe, they have uninstall packages that work pretty cleanly for those area's. Global Base and Global Vector are much more invasive but having used both I find it pretty safe (hint: To prevent a frame rate hit for global vector turn off traffic). If you are nervous about it there is a simple way to protect yourself, make a copy of your FSX folder before you install the ORBX packages. This works great, as long as you have the disk space. If things go bad and uninstall does not work, just delete working FSX folder and rename the copy to the name of the original. But if your happy with it you can then delete the copy.

Are you referring to base packages that I need to use PAJN and PAKT? The base packages are Southern Alaska base package and Pacific Northwest base packages.

No, Global Base and Global Vector are packages of that name that replace scenery globally, the 'required' packages for PAJN and PAKT are the NA Southern Alaska and NA Pacific Fjords regional packs (respectively).
I find FTX Central 3 very convenient...It knows what I have purchased going back 3 years to when I had P3D v2 and makes it easy for me to install or uninstall scenery. BTW I find that Global does not really mix with FTX regions...I think it is probably best to go Global OR Regions and some of these Airports for Regions as opposed to Airports for Global simply will not run for me. So I will stick to Global Airports and Airport Packs.

I've hit my first wall getting the software installed.
I attempted to install FTX central but it crashes.
I've turned off firewall, antivirus UAC.
Probably it's the location where pd3 is installed....
Joe, are you running p3d 3.3 or 3.4, I had problems with 3.4 but worked ok with 3.3, but then it just failed to recognise it and did not crash. To be honest, I have no advice except download a fresh copy and re-install in a fresh location.
