Re: Sea Hawk
Currently working on the RNAS Ford trials aircraft but not convinced by the Warpaint illustration. It is shown as the later white underside scheme but the trials took place in 1954/55. I thought the white underside was not used until about 1958/59. Should the earlier Sky Type S scheme be used? Any thoughts?

Re: Sea Hawk
Hmm.. a difficult one to call Peter. There are shots knocking around showing the white underside as early as '57 but I've not seen anything as early as '54-'55. I'll have a dig to see if there's anything for that particular airframe on the web

Re: Sea Hawk
These glue sniffers say the WV834/515 underside is white:

Also the Flying Stations FS9 Sea Hawk FGA.4 has a WV834/515 livery, the underside is painted white.

Re: Sea Hawk
Yup.. all references I've found show it as white (though many actually reference the Warpaint issue). Not a single shot of the real thing yet.
If all else fails.. leave it white Peter. That's what everyone expects

Re: Sea Hawk
WV831 WIP...
Just twigged that the others I've done are 2048x2048 (wasn't paying attention). I'll do this in 4096 as an alternative (with mip version) but the main map will be 2048 as 4096 don't sit well on my rig
EDIT: Done WV831
I've included a 4096 map with mips (Seahawk 1M.dds).. just rename the original and remove the M

Re: Sea Hawk
Paul..
Did you decide how you wanted 171 to look? The East Fortune aircraft shows it with the white underside rather than sky which I can do though it will take a little time as I've not done any white undersides yet.

Not sure if you saw the last post on the previous page - I think the East Fortune layout is the one to do, and with its white undersides please. It's how it is in the museum, and who are we to argue ?
Given its history, I'm sure that's the very aircraft that Eric Brown was sitting in when he was towed out at Lossiemouth
