Seeking opinions on FSGlobal 2010 FSX version & FSDT GSX

Post by hobby »

those forum members who have installed FSGlobal 2010 for FSX will know that it takes approximately two hours to install on a modern computer. I do most of my flying in Europe and I wondered if it was worth re-installing that program or whether the default mesh for that continent was very similar to FSG2010?

Likewise Windows 10 had a massive update the other day and the FSDreamTeam seem to have frequent updates, I wondered whether other forum members use FSDTGSX and whether they would recommend that program.

I have re-installed FSDT GSX - it is a splendid program but I cannot make it work correctly after the latest enormous update by MS for W10. With regret I have deleted FSDreamTeam Ground Services for FSX.

I'd love to be able to comment Hobby but I don't have any of those addons or FSX on Win10.

Thanks Dave.

Can it really be that no forum members have FSX on W10, nor use FSGlobal 2010 and FSDT GSX?

I am not very keen on sitting here for two hours re-installing FSGlobal 2010 since I usually fly in Europe over the Alps rather than 1930s style of through the Alpine passes! However I had thought that a forum member might come up with some compelling reason or flightsim experience that might persuade me to be a little more patient.

FSGlobal 2010 is a six disk set, there are over 25 gigabytes of terrain data which applies a reasonably accurate mesh providing more accurate topographical features throughout most of the world for both FS9 and FSX. It is not a seasonal texture program. Details can be found on the Pilot's website. Please note that it does take two hours to install on a modern computer.

You might like this if you fly through mountainous areas.

FSDreamTeam Ground services is an excellent program which is said to work on any airfield. All stages of a flight, arrival at parking gate, deboarding, catering, refuelling, boarding and pushback are animated with the correct vehicles and personnel. This setup can e customised for most aircraft. If you "google" 'FSDream Team Ground Services' you can watch very convincing videos of the program in operation. If you go o the website www.fsdreamteam.com/products you can find the details of the program.

I had this working extremely well until Windows 10 dumped an enormous update on my computer a few days ago. Now I cannot persuade the program to work properly! My initial enquiry was aimed at finding out if anyone else had battled with the same problems. I have found over a period of twenty years that if FS programs don't work it is usually my fault and I have always found the advice offered on this forum to be helpful and worth heeding.
