I agree that it seems overkill to get rid of a computer for one problem.
You've tried a reinstall of DX, which I was going to suggest, so how about running a Windows repair/reinstall from the original discs?

btw, I'm sure that I've read some of our Members have upgraded to W10 without problems

Just to confirm what Mike says for me at least, Win 10 has been a breeze. There's things I don't like about it but overall it seems better and FS-X has been running happily. Just added DX-10 by buying SteveFX DX-10 scenery fixer and can happily say its the best £19.99 I've spent on FS stuff.....

If everything else fails try a restore, that is go back to date when everying ran fine and see if that helps.

Good luck.

Nigel.

thanks, all I think it is time for me to buy new laptop. It is possible there is something screwed up somewhere in Windows 7 that is blocking FSX from running. I seem to have all necessary files and programs necessary to run FSX yet it refuses to do so. It would be totally impossible to fix Windows 7.

It amazes me folks can "play" any flight sim on a laptop - where is the immersion? Need my 3 monitors. I have a laptop which sits to one side for a moving map, Wx, planning etc.... 8)

ummm Flight sim is NOT play or toy as real airlines use flight sim such as FSX to train pilots. That is why Lockheed bought rights from Microsoft so that Lockheed markets P3D to all airlines for training purposes. And Lockheed is not in business of buying toys :)

Well I have no problem flying on FSX on laptops past years as you can see from all of hundreds of thousands of screenshots that I post on many aviation forums past years and I have 12,000 more screenshots waiting to be published.

Since I am unable to fix FSX or some weird problem on Windows 7 Pro that prevents me from using FSX. I guess I should start looking for new laptop. Just saw a new Alienware laptop with 16GB, 1 TB 7,200 rpm, 550 GB SSD, and 2 GB dedicated video ram for 1,499 bucks but I do not think Aerosoft airport sceneries will be happy with 2 GB dedicated video ram and I want to use Anchorage X scenery that I bought 2 years ago but was afraid to install. Also I want to buy Fairbanks X scenery too!!! So I think I need 3 GB or 4 GB dedicated video ram for my next planned new laptop!

Will Bac 1-11s, VC-10s, Tridents, and HS748s work in FSX Stream? P3D?

Aharon

I'm with you, Alex, I need a big screen, would like a bigger one that I already have. I couldn't stand the thought of peering at a laptop.

Aharon, even though FSX/P3D is used as a training tool, Alex is right to refer to "play". We can experience all the bells and whistles available for computers, but it's still not real.
We all "fly" a variety of types in the simulator, but nobody in their right mind would turn many of us loose on an A-380, or Eurofighter.
Just to confirm the general view of FSX, see this cut & paste from the Pilot's handbook for the Winjeel, subject of another topic on this forum:
- In game weight and fuel loading. Use the Animation Manager-Weights section to adjust the fuel,
oil level and weights of the aircraft directly in game without needing to use the FSX menus. Centre
of gravity will be automatically calculated for you.

Why is it "impossible" to reinstall W7? Is it pirated? :-O

Did you try "sfc /scannow" from an Administrator command prompt, preferably in Safe Mode?

Already done that 3 days before your suggestion.

Results were "no problems found"

Un no LOL

I do not want to re-install Windows 7 Pro because I am afraid I would screw up my laptop. Since FSX or something in Windows is screwed up in my laptop, all other aspects such as softwares in my laptop are working well and very fast. So I am not going to lose my laptop to idea of experimental action of re-installing Windows 7 Pro.

In 21st century, laptops and computers no longer come with Windows discs.
