Well, - I installed Ubuntu MATE, mate,
This version runs much better than Zorin 11. The drivers were working right away, where as the wifi adapter driver in Zorin took a bit of work to get set up. Another driver I noticed was the battery driver, the Zorin OS showed the battery as Unknown, , MATE shows the HP battery , Hoping I'll get a little better run time.
The videos run very smooth connecting my phone via usb and playing them with VLC, great transfer speed!
My mouse pad too. I couldn't double tap and grab multiple files or drag them with Zorin, No problem with MATE.
you tube videos stream great using my phones wifi hotspot.

I'm very happy with this Mini 1000 now, and to think I got it for ten dollars .

For anyone else who is reading this. It's worth the time to see what Linux is about. If you need a little help just ask.

Sounds great! I may have to try MATE as I have only used the standard versions, I may have to download it and give it a try, I would be interested to see if you can get X-Plane running on it.

For a while I had a small (core-2) dell desktop we used as a video player attached to the TV running XMBC on ubuntu desktop and it worked fairly well, although stability problems eventually forced us to go back to Windows, but linux has only gotten better since then.

Joe, I wouldn't be much help finding out if X-Plane runs on MATE, this mini has a Atom 1.6gtz processor with only a 16gb ssd. And a intel 945 graphics chip set sharing 128mb memory . I'm in awe it is able to play video in 720p as smooth as it does.
I did read a few threads on the X-Plane forum, there are people running X-Plane on Ubuntu. But there are some plug-ins that need to be installed.
I don't have X-Plane running on my windows laptop. Just.
FS9, FSX, and FLIGHT, and they keep me happy enough. When I use them.

It's been a few months since I have, and that was just to beta test Nev's sound files for the Anson.

Thinking about FLIGHT, I need to Mac into a sortie . It's been a year since we've flown together.
