PARNALL ELF

Post by Molyned »

Not the best known of pre-war British aircraft but ...
Image
The Elf is a frequent flyer at Old Warden and so is the topic for my latest build. As usual it will be in FS9 format but will perform in FSX as well.
This is a preview shot only, seen in its typical setting - I've not started on the V.C. yet,so plenty of work left .
Cheers

View is about the same as a Tiger & most other DH kites of the period....one just puts ones head to the side.
DaveM, whose Old Warden scenery are you using? Yours?

According to the write-up, the reason the top wing & fuel tank were placed so low was to improve the pilots view :worried: especially on the approach when he could look over the wing at the ground.
Er, right, that's if they didn't run out of fuel- a common fault with the design. The main tank (20 galls) is in the fuselage and the top tank (3 galls)is just a feeder to the engine, continuously topped up by an engine driven fuel pump which often failed. :help:
The scenery Keith is Orbx Old Warden - and jolly nice too.
Cheers
