BOULTON PAUL DEFIANT

Post by Molyned »

The Defiant is now available from Flightsim.com. Although for FS9, it performs quite well in FSX(P3D not tested).
Image
There are three varients included in the package - a fighter, V1121 AF-V of the Air Fighting Development Unit at Duxford;
A MK1A Night Fighter N1801 PS-B of 264 Squadron - the first squadron to be fitted with airborne radar equipment;
A T.T MK1 Target Towing Tug N1624 5S-J of 691 Squadron.
Shown here is the night fighter :doh: . Thanks to you beta testers and your invaluable assistance. Sorry that not all of your comments could be incorporated.
Cheers :cheers:

Oh, you want it to tow a target, Keith? that should be easy enough. Go on, Dave, do it. :thumbsup:

Thanks DaveM, d/l, but not yet flown.

I thought about adding a target flag until I discovered that they were usually streamed up to over 1000ft behind the tug - seemed pointless somehow.
That's my excuse anyway. :wasntme: ................................................................................................................................. ;)

Yes, Thats a bit far away, I did it with my Jindivik model, but not the 40 ft to 200 ft in reality. In any case if one does make a target, they are rigidly fixed to the prime model, so any manoeuvres with it streamed look wrong. Not sure though with the TT Canberra model how it was done, if at all.
( I was just blagging BTW, Dave).

We knowed that, Keith ;)

But, on the subject of possibility, could it be animated by making it a part of the rudder, but removed some distance?
Yes, crash problems due to it hitting objects on the ground, oh, well.

Hmmm, Hadn't thought of linking it to the rudder, might need to restrict the rudder angle too much though & some aircraft need wrong sense rudder in a turn.
Oh well back to the drawing board...

The real question is not if it can be done, but whether it should be done at all. *-)
To look realistic I think the drogue's movements would have to follow, but also lag behind the aircraft's path. It could be made to appear / disappear, no problem, but I have lots of more interesting projects to keep me busy for a long time yet. :guinn:
Cheers :cheers:

I agree Dave M, but not only that it will have to flutter as flags normally do.
So a non starter I fear.
