Okay Dave and Mike; I'll be interested to hear how you both get on. I've just had another go with Internet Download Manager, but got some error messages, so I've have given up for today. I've got some updated Orbx Australian airports to download anyway.

IDM finally managed to get setup1! At the incredibly varying speed of 200-590kb/s
WARNING they only let IDM have one connection, instead of the usual many.
WARNING 2 Resume capability? No

Tried setup2, got the locked out message again. Time to take up meditation or hypnotism therapy I think.

Hi Joe,

AFAIK it was St. Patrick's Day only.

For those having problems with the D/L, I had this email from Megascenery today

'I want to take a quick moment to thank you for taking advantage of our FREE St Patrick's Day MegaSceneryEarth Ireland giveaway but more importantly I want to ask you, if you are experiencing slow download speeds to please bear with us.

We had a totally unexpected response from this giveaway with over 3,000 customers taking advantage of it and at 20 Gb per download that's around 60 Terabytes of data our servers have to deliver. It's a huge amount of data that we have never had to deliver in a 24 hour period. Our server network is capable of serving up around 35 Terabytes per day so we have exceeded our capacity. The result is slower than normal download speeds for our customers. The MegaSceneryEarth download experience is not normally like this and all downloads are able to normally be delivered as fast as your connection will allow - even the fastest internet connections.

If you have been having trouble downloading MegaSceneryEarth Ireland and if you might be experiencing a little frustration, you can always try again in a day or two as our server loads subside. We do expect our speeds to be back to normal within 24 to 48 hours.

We do again thank you for taking full advantage of our free MegaSceneryEarth Ireland giveaway and hope that you thoroughly enjoy the product that gives you the opportunity to fly all of Ireland in photoreal detail.

Sincerely

The MegaSceneryEarth Team

Thanks Colin, that makes it all clear. I'll wait a good few days before attempting to download again. :)

Hi Aharon,
"What happened to your excellent strategy:...."

Well, I thought the rush may have died down, and looking at the post from Colin, Megascenery themselves thought 24-48 hours may see everything back to normal.
When I got 1 OK, I tried another. Obviously too much for them.

True to their word, things have improved immensely.
IDM is now allowed multiple access and resume capability.
I've now downloaded 1 to 6 inclusive without a hitch.
I'll give it a break until I check my data limit impact. :cpu:

Airspeed,

When you have chance, please let me know how this scenery is and how do Dublin and Shannon airports look in that scenery. Also, please let me know how well it runs in your computer.

What computer specifications is your pc so that I can determine if it can run in my laptop?

I am thinking of downloading ONLY Shannon and Dublin areas from 19 GB worth of files of that scenery therefore saving hard drive space unless somebody tells me there is another important Irish city with important airport having high commercial traffic in Ireland!

Regards.

Aharon
