Add on aircraft not showing in P3D v3.2

Post by Kevin Farnell »

I've just done a fresh install of P3D v3.2.3, having first backed up 'C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3' from P3D v3.1.
With P3D v3.1, I added a folder 'P3D v 3 Addon Files' to my D drive, in which I placed all of my addon scenery, AI Aircraft and aircraft etc. The relevant '.cfg' files in 'C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3' were then edited to point to the location of the addons. That worked fine in P3D v3.1.
However after installing P3D v3.2.3 and editing the relevant files I can no longer see any of my addon aircraft in the P3D vehicle selection window.
I have noticed a new document in 'C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3' named 'DISEntityTypes.xml', which when viewed lists all of the vehicles within P3D. Does anyone know if addon vehicles need to be added to this and if so how?

Confused

I don't know anything about that "DISEntityTypes.xml" file, but my add-on aircraft are showing up normally.
They're in extra folders with the corresponding entries in the simobjects.cfg as per v3.1 ( it's the same file ).

Thanks for your reply, Dave. That's exactly what I did. I'm assuming that you have updated to P3D v3.2. Did you do this by just updating the 'install_client.msi' ? I waited for the fixed P3D v3.2.3 and did a completely clean install.
Also, do you see the file 'DISEntityTypes.xml' in 'C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3' ?

I may try a complete uninstall and re-install. Failing that, I'll post on the LM forum, although no-one else seems to be reporting the problem.

OK, I uninstalled P3D v3.2.3 and re-installed v3.1. I then uninstalled the P3D v3.1 client followed by installing P3D v3.2.3 client.
All addon aircraft are now showing in the vehicle library and are selectable. I don't know what I did wrong originally, other than thinking I hadn't uninstalled v3.1 correctly.

Glad you got it working Kevin.
Just for the record, I un-installed all 3 components (client, content and scenery) individually and re-installed the new versions (3.2.3). All the files in appdata and programdata were left in place although I deleted the p3d.cfg and shader cache.

Thanks, Dave.

I'll have a go at replacing content and scenery later. There was some discussion on the LM and Avsim forums regarding updated tree textures so should be worth doing.

Cheers

I've just updated, but Client only. All seems well, and the strobes are now working on the A2A Comanche and Cessna 182. Awaiting a new objectflow.dll from Orbx. :)

If you use AICarriers at all Paul, you'll need to update "content" as well.

Not yet installed in P3Dv3, Dave, but thanks very much for the warning.
