Back in the days when DaveG was a young man and I had a lot less grey hair.. many (of a similar ilk) will remember seeing the fabulous displays put on by the OFMC/Breitling Fighters..
Later in the 'Breitling Fighters' era.. the P-40 moved back to NZ to be replaced by a Lavochkin La-9. This was something of a watershed for OFMC. I can't remember the exact circumstances but I recall the La-9 acquisition over-stretched the finances a wee bit (more than a wee bit) and ended up going along with the Corsair. Then Ray died and it looked like the end of the road for OFMC but happily, it wasn't.

I know how you feel. Since my earlier post, the rain has flashed up once again. Brilliant! I can now look forward to my 1300-2000 shift in the rain For sure, flying with real weather over the last few weeks has been a definite no-no
